Inverso

In the stress of our daily lives we tend to not think about most of what makes up our surroundings. That's the same with how products are actually made. Inverso is a stool that is supposed to bring light to that, bringing the insides of a sofa to the outsides in a reasonable form factor. With its use of foam as support and wood as the seating area, the Inverso stool not even reverses what's inside and outside, but also what's supposed to be structural and what's comfortable.

In the design process for the INVERSO stool, I started with the general idea and inspiration. Then I continued ideating on the general shape and elements, ending up with the idea of using raw foam and upholstery straps for the body, and wood for the seating. I did a couple of ergonomic tests and models to ensure a good experience. After that, I engineered the feet, belt-holding mechanism, and how to attach the two wooden boards to each other. The wooden boards are CNC machined, the belt holders are 3D printed from ASA, and the foam and belts are sourced from European manufacturers. In the end, the assembly is very easy, and the stool can be fully disassembled and reassembled countless times for easier transport.
